Wharfedale Evo2-40 Floor standing speakers

Wharfedale Evo2-40 is the representative of Evolution2. Perfect polished finish by natural veneer gladdens the eye. A new 25-mm tweeter with a silk dome, high-temperature coil made of aluminum wire and built-in radiator, is able to play frequencies above 30 kHz. Now in 170-mm MF- and HF-drivers there are black braided fibers of Kevlar and low-profile high-strength baskets. All of these is intended to improve the speed of return and dynamics of drivers. Big port of the bass-reflex is placed just under the drivers. A huge mesh is installed in its depth for leveling air stream. Crossover is set on the frequencies of 160 Hz and 2,2 kHz.

Sound. We got used to the fact that the speaker systems of the British Wharfedale constantly show us a perfectly balanced sound. Wharfedale is one of the few companies, the sound quality of which, smoothly growing from model to model, from series to series, successfully correlates with quite attractive price. Evo2-40 was not an exception. Tonal balance is ideal. The speaker systems transfer sound events in the lower case less clearly in comparison with almost exemplary executed middle and top. The pair plays largely, massively. As the result, big forms with significant LF-component sound very spectacular. Chamber music sounds not so expressively due to slight deficit of plasticity in micro-dynamical area and clarity in bass. The sound of Wharfedale Evo2-40 is informative, inviting to long listening.
