Although Matsushita, the company that makes the Technics machines, supplies the market with many products designed for their widespread use in the home, nevertheless, in the higher price categories it has consistently maintained a very high standard of quality. The TECHNICS SL-PS840 CD player is certainly among the best. Its functionality is very solid: it has such modes as Repeat, A/B, Peak Search, automatic editing (linking), Random, Fader and step-by-step search of fragments by index. Technical parameters are very good, but they do not always match the values given by the manufacturer. There were no problems with linearity. The sound was rated as rather flat, but with dynamic and pleasant bass frequencies. However, on the whole, the sound quality is not striking.
