Wharfedale Diamond 9.5 Floor standing speakers
The model with 9.5 index goes just past the top model 9.6. This is a three-way speaker system, which is made in the body with beautifully bent side walls and qualitative vinyl finish. The lack of parallel walls allows to successfully fight against standing waves. The body is made of MDF, but it is impossible to find joint place due to a competent finish. On the front panel there are three drivers. At the very top there is a 25-mm tweeter with a silk dome. Woofer and midbass on a short notice distinguish by "Kevlar weaving". They have the same diameter (165 mm), but in the center there is a phase bullet and woofer has an inverted dustproof dome. The drivers are fastened using the proprietary MSBR suspension. On the back wall there are bass-reflex port and spring terminals, which are deployed at a small angle to each other that makes the connection of acoustic wire easier. You can organize two-wire connection and use banana-type connectors.
Sound. The British pair plays amazingly melodiously. The sound manner of Wharfedale Diamond 9.5 differs by rare naturalness. Due to fineness, even refinement of micro shading, rich acoustic aura between the sources offstage, plasticity of intonational relations and perfect macro dynamics, the loudspeakers greatly play difficult recordings of classical repertoire of different performing ensembles (instrumental, vocal) and sizes (solo, chamber and large ensembles, choirs). The speaker systems neatly and with very small losses scale large forms in a small size of medium rooms. On the one hand, there is lots of valuable musical information in the sound, but on the other hand there is no "dry" detailing. Lower case of the "British" is very correct. The company managed to balance its qualities: deep, structural (tonal), intonational, speed. Slightly velvet bass is by character in a very good harmony with the middle and top. Light "cloud of nonlinearity" in the middle area of the case shows not always and weakly, therefore does not reduce the overall favorable impression at all.
Wharfedale Diamond 9.5 greatly play any music. We recommend this model primarily to the lovers of classics.
