Jamo C80 Sub Subwoofer

The main feature of Jamo C80 Sub is not only the closed acoustic design, but also the use of two oppositely oriented drivers with 10-inch aluminum diffusers. This decision is based on the fact that for smaller-sized diffusers the moving mass is significantly lower, and this gives the best impulse response. The total area is the same as in the 13-inch driver, which has a beneficial effect on the depth of the reproduced bass. The original technical solutions do not finish at this: Jamo engineers use the MFB servo loop to control the precise motion of the moving system and to reduce room effect on bass reproduction; a special filter with a smooth adjustment is provided. A built-in amplifier of BASH type with the power of 1800 watts deserves a special mention. The body of the sub is completely devoid of parallel walls and is very carefully damped. The switching terminals are somewhat unusually located (although this is fully justified by the design) on the lower plane of the body. These are line in/out and high level terminals. Cutoff, phase and level controls are located on the front panel that is quite convenient. The assembly is of very high quality, the finish also meets the highest standards.

As it turned out, Jamo C80 Sub differs from most of its competitors not only by unusual technical solutions. This is one of the most "fast-shooting" subwoofers. Moreover, this speed is achieved not due to forcing a musical signal, but due to an incredibly accurate reproduction of a low-frequency attack. The sub does it masterfully, without reducing progress even on super-complex recordings with an intricate dynamic pattern. The bass interpreted by Jamo is unusually distinct and structured. The drum kick does not go into empty space, you hear the slightest attenuation of the membrane. Dynamics is just incredible and would have done credit to much more expensive subwoofer.

Such character of playback will be most welcome in a home cinema. The subwoofer accurately transfers any explosions, shots, and even a barely perceptible low-frequency component. No matter how I tried to unbalance this device, I did not succeed, so I have to admit that there were no weak points in this bass machine.
