Tangent Booster DAC2 DAC

The portable Tangent Booster DAC2 combines a USB converter and headphone amplifier. The miniature aluminum thing is designed for connection to a computer via a microUSB connector and has an additional linear input for switching with various portable equipment. Thanks to the built-in lithium battery, the DAC can operate autonomously (minimum 60 hours are stated), which is indispensable, for example, in long trips. There are two headphone outputs, and they work in parallel. The converter mode is indicated by a small LED.

The device is based on the well-known Texas Instruments PCM2704 chip capable of receiving digital data with parameters up to 16/48.

Future owners of Tangent Booster DAC2 will surely be pleased with a wide range of related accessories, including all the necessary cables, good in-ear headphones and a soft case.

To install in the system as an audio device, the converter does not need an additional driver, it is recognized by the computer just in a couple of minutes.

The tiny box showed surprisingly adult sounding and, in terms of emotionality, is able to compete with more expensive competitors. The headphone amplifier produces a fairly clear sound, only a little smoothed in terms of overall dynamics. With some weakening of the edges of the working band, we can note a high intelligibility of reproduction. Even on extreme music recordings with maximally dense spectrum, individual instruments are not lost against the general background. When connected to a stationary stereo system, the baby did not fail at all, demonstrating the equally energetic nature of the feed. Although there is no exclusive super detailing and abundance of shades in the middle, the very essence of music is correctly transmitted. For this reason, it is pleasant to listen to music of various genres and even different eras.
