Marantz PM66SE Amplifier

The firm offers the amplifier Marantz PM66SE as continuation of its SE series (Special Edition), which had such models as PM-44SE and PM-55SE earlier. The new device kept all features of its predecessors; and it differs from them an updated design, which all new Marantz models have, and the increased output power. What are characterized the amplifiers of firm with lettering SE traditionally by? Their first feature is minimum intervention in a sound channel. That's why the absence of timbres and loudness is included, as they say, in the obligatory range. But at reproduction their absence (in other words: the characteristic in "ruler") didn't cause discomfort. Secondly, this is a minimum commutation. Four line inputs and sockets for connection of pair of the tape recorders can satisfy your needs practically for any situation. As the commutation of inputs and tape recorders are separate, that you can copy records from one tape recorder on another or listen to one, keep record of any other source on the second. Operation of the switch of the tape recorders is accompanied by light indication of three light-emitting diodes ("Tape 1", "Tape 2" and "Copy"), which allows you after some practice to be guided that you write down and that you listen. But that is not all. The amplifier Marantz PM66SE has still a mode of a live broadcast of a source ("Source Direct"). And this is the last about the entrances. In many modern amplifiers the manufacturers already refuse the correcting input for a sound pickup head, but in this device the input for MM head is kept. By the way, connecters of this input are (like CD input) gilded. Now we tell you about differences. Though the output power measured in the continuous mode at PM-66SE is same as at the predecessors (50 and 70 W on loading 8 and 4 Ohms respectively), dynamic power, measurement which conditions more correspond to a real musical signal, on loading 4 Ohms 10 W is more and makes already 110 W. The RC panel which allows operating as the Marantz AV components, equipped with the RC receiver, and the components united in system the firm tire D-Bus are included in the package of the amplifier. And though the number of functions, which this panel allows to operate, exceeds two tens for any of eight possible components (the CD player, sound or the video recorder, the tuner etc.), on PM-66SE it is possible to operate only the level of loudness and to include temporary muting. There isn't switch for acoustics as work is provided only with one set, at connection of the earphones the exit to speaker systems is automatically disconnected. By the way, the clamps for wires of the speaker systems are very convenient; they allow using rather thick wire without special tips. Like previous models the amplifier showed very powerful and balanced sounding, which was especially brightly emphasized during the work with "native" (i.e. from the same firm) CD player. Well, the history of the soft and mighty bass Marantz goes on...
