KEF Kube-2 Subwoofer

Kube-2 looks more like self-sufficient device from the series of LF-modules than a compact subwoofer from a complete set of a surround speaker system. On the other hand, it can be purchased separately and used with both speaker system of KEF and any other brand. The body with the volume of 23 liters is made of qualitative MDF. Built-in amplifier, operating in D class, develops the power up to 200W that provides a confident work in spaces up to 30-40 m2.

The model is equipped with two radi8ators: dynamic head and passive radiator of ABR type; both of them have diaphragms with a diameter of 25 cm. Such solution provides a monopolar acoustic radiation. The maximal sound pressure, developed by KEF Kube-2, is 112 dB. Speaking about switching and controls, we will note that connection with a receiver is possible only by low level. But there is a full set of settings of operating modes. As befits, volume level, frequency cut, phase of signal are regulated, but also there is a three-step Bass Boost control switch, which increases the subwoofer's response on 6 and 12 dB that allows you to get an optimal sound in certain acoustic conditions. Black walls of the body are polished to shine. You should take it into account while installation and at least wipe your hands with alcohol, but better use gloves. There are no difficulties to connect and adjust the device. Speaking about low-frequency support of movies, we didn't find significant faults. Kef Kube-2 plays its role well, bringing a realistic foundation under the most dramatic places and perfectly copes with the material, rich with low-frequency passages, whether in blockbusters, cosmic film, famous films in fantasy style and, of course, in action films. Sometimes, at maximum volume level the sub can a bit drawn, but only in the case when someone will try to sponge everything of it in a very big room. This "cube" will fit well 2.1 system for playing music - it is quite musical and delicate. Such versatility is worthy of well-deserved praise.
