Primare I22 AmplifierPrimare I22 amplifier looks strictly. In addition to the elongated oval display in the center of the massive aluminum front panel, there are only four controls in front: run-out button from the standby mode, the input selector and the elegant handle that controls the volume and balance. The power switch is located at the bottom of the chassis on the left side. On the rear panel everything is also quite modest: four input stereo pairs, output from the preamplifier, an archaic loop for recording to a tape recorder, a trigger output and a connector for a remote IR receiver, and a service RS-232 port. There are also three digital inputs - optical TosLink, coaxial and mini-USB, closed by a protective cap. The case of the amplifier is made of thick steel sheets and therefore successfully absorbs vibrations and resonances. Power units in the Primare I22 are made using UFPD technology, which characterizes them as ultra-fast. This allows you to achieve a large output power at low distortion levels. The instant increase of pulses in power supplies makes it possible to obtain the purest and natural sound in a wide frequency range in the absence of overloads. The pre-amplification section is located away from the power amplifier units and has a separate power supply. The signal paths are of minimal length. LM1972 attenuator is used to adjust the volume and balance. Switching of inputs is carried out by highly effective signal relays. Despite the model's belonging to the Swedish school, we did not hear the uncompromising and super-serious Nordic sounding, which is sometimes met in the technique of other Scandinavian brands. Perhaps, hard notes appeared in a number of classical recordings, but this did not spoil the main picture. Fusion and new age, especially with solo brass instruments, were presented luxuriously. The vocals sounded richly and vividly, both in classical and near-jazz works. The music of rhythmic styles, including disco, funk, reggae, was filled with pulsating energy. Classic rock appeared in all its glory - dinosaurs of the rock scene of all continents, as well as the current heroes playing the hard electric blues sounded freshly and temperamentally. |
