KEF R800ds Surround Speakers

KEF R800b speaker systems are built on the famous Uni-Q modules, the diameter of which is 13 cm. In addition to aluminum LF-speaker with lateral notches on the diffuser, the Uni-Q module contains an inch tweeter with the extended to 45 kHz frequency range. Technically loudspeakers are three-way (with the crossover frequency of 300 and 2500 Hz) and of dipole type, i.e. maximally satisfying the requirements of modern systems of home theatre.

In the instructions the manufacturer gives clear recommendations on installation of the speaker systems in a room. The most suitable variant is a wall mounting on the height of one and half or two meters from floor. In this case maximally indissoluble sound space is guaranteed.

The branded KEF playing style is guessed in the sound of even such a specific system. It firstly refers to clearly drawn middle, free of obvious coloring. Upper frequencies, on the contrary, are deliberately muted that, however, has a little effect on the overall perception of music. Dynamics is well developed for such small systems; deep bass and its presentation can be also referred to proses. Too high volume levels are accompanied by a light compression, which smooths sharp dynamic edges. But the most important feature of KEF is a thorough formation of diffuse sound field, so the systems will not be the weak spot even in a very expensive home theater.
