Parasound Halo D3 DVD-player

The universal Parasound Halo D3 player differs by more advanced capabilities for connection to the system: the player has HDMI, multi-channel audio output (5.1) is supplemented with stereo line and two-channel balanced ones, as well as two composite, two S-Video and two component video outputs. As you can see, the source can be easily fit for work in two zones. In the audio settings menu for DVD-Audio and SA-CD you will find an advanced bass manager, with which you can select not only the level and distance, but also the crossover frequencies. Pure Analog mode and Pure Digital mode are provided (when digital and video outputs are turned off).

Playing any media on Halo D3 is remembered by informative sound. The bass is well outlined and slightly dry (for booming rooms it is just what you need). The attack is harshly transmitted, all after-effects are distinctly and finely drawn, especially with instruments with a high spectrum. The middle band slightly put on guard. It is not tinted, but there is a feeling that the player is trying to present musical material brighter and more emotional. The top is clean, with no complaints. And the construction of the stereo sound can be assessed perfectly. Typically, players with very high detailing of sound do not give depth, but in Parasound Halo D3 everything is in place - the rear sources are removed and at the same time are well developed, not fenced off from the listener with a veil or haze. Cleanliness and transparency dominate.

All said above related to playing a CD through a balanced output. The transition to RCA does not lead to significant changes in quality - well, maybe the finest details are slightly blurred, but the tonal and spatial characteristics of the playback are preserved. Playing SA-CD differs in a more natural and open transfer of the entire high register, which, in general, is typical for a single-bit DSD recording format. DVD-Audio playback can be described in one word - "accuracy". The scene is extremely accurate geometrically and stable.
