Mirage Nano S8 SubwooferMirage Nano S8 subwoofer is miniature and designed for sounding small and medium-sized rooms. The power supply is quite sufficient for this - an 8-inch driver with a special polymer diffuser, reinforced with additional stiffeners. The built-in amplifier gives to the load a peak power of 300W, and it is a lot for such dimensions. Acoustic design is front bass-reflex. The switching capabilities of the subwoofer are quite expected - the line input and high-level terminals, made on spring terminals. The crossover switches in the range of 40 150 Hz. Surely, it is possible to invert the phase of the signal in order to precisely match the subwoofer with the rest of the loudspeakers. The mode of automatic operation of the input signal is very convenient, in the absence of which the sub goes into standby mode. Despite its modest dimensions, the Canadian bass machine has very serious potential. The performance of Mirage Nano S8 is characterized by confident dynamics and excellent legibility. The intricate rhythmic patterns of modern music do not cause difficulties, on the contrary - their structure is read absolutely clearly. At extreme volume levels one can notice unpleasant distortions caused by overtones of a bass-reflex port. However, a long listening at such a volume will not take pleasure in any case, so this shortcoming can be completely neglected. The monolithic case is free from vibrations and resonances, which fully gives the opportunity to enjoy a highly informative, clear bass with a good impulse response. Testing with modern soundtracks revealed some limitations on the depth of the lowest bass, which, however, does not prevent the accurate transmission of the most special effects. A variety of shots and explosions do not merge into a common rumble, they can be easily recognized and even classified. |
