Wharfedale Diamond 10 SX-Sub Subwoofer

The tenth generation of Diamond series includes three active subwoofers, having difference in both caliber and functionality. 10SX-Sub has an 8-inch branded driver, working in bass-reflex design (port is directed backwards). The head itself "blows to the floor", so the character of sound can depend in some degree on the type of coverage, on which the sub will be placed. Data for built-in amplifier look quite modestly. The manufacturer doesn't specify its type, only nominal power is known - 100 W. Crossover's cutoff frequency is adjusted step-by-step that may cause some difficulties in coordination. But there are no problems with connection, all necessary interfaces are present.

For its sizes Wharfedale Diamond 10 SX-Sub offers pretty powerful bass with sufficient for the most cases depth and speed. Also we should mention among advantages a full absence of body's resonances - the result is impressive for the budget model. But we also found cons: in extreme by pressure basses the sound slightly loses intelligibility and at critical amplitudes of signal you can hear specific distortions, connected with diffuser's quit linear operating mode. It's likely possible to get rid of it by narrowing operating band of the subwoofer.
