Energy ESW-M8 Subwoofer

Subwoofers of ESW series were presented by the Canadian company Energy in 2008 and turned out to be so good by combination of price, sizes and features that analog models were produced in Klipsch Group and under other brands (Energy ESW-M6, Jamo Sub 800, Klipsch SW-110, SW-112, SW-308, SW-310, SW-311, Mirage MM-6 and MM-8). Similarity is seen up to small details, the difference is only in the caliber of active and passive heads - in ESW-M8 they are of 8 inches with aluminum diffusers. 300W amplifier has an increased effectiveness that is proved by the absence of radiator cooling system. Cutoff frequency is adjusted between 50-200 Hz. There is a switch, sending the signal bypassing filter. High-level inputs are not provided - only linear. Outputs are also absent, so integration of the sub into stereo system can cause problems.

ESW-M8 differs by energetic and fundamental bass. It sets sights on champion among 8-inch models by sound resolution. But by the quality of bass the noticeable gain in comparison with other subwoofers with passive radiators is not seen. Speed showings are average; there is the lack of briskness and thoroughness. Rhythmic relief is not loose like in 6,5-inch subwoofers. Even at high frequencies of the setting it turns out to be low and filling, not light and contour. It is not the best variant for music system. But in home theatre, where power is at the first place, ESW-M8 will cope with any effects.
