Wharfedale SPC-12 Subwoofer

Wharfedale SPC-12 sub, as it easy to guess, is equipped with 12-inches woofer. The driver with a diffuser made of composite material and increased stroke of suspension gives certain advantages at the playing of deep bass. The sub's body, assembled of MDF panels, is carefully damped from inside and creates the impression of monolith. Non-parallel side walls also make contribution to the fight against unwanted internal resonances. Peak power of the amp is 280W. Control over setting is interesting: main controls are installed on the upper edge of the body and when arm gets close, they start be highlighted with pleasant neon.

Wharfedale SPC-12 sub best works with a fairly narrow working band; during the experiments 85 Hz was the most suitable value. In this case qualitative showings of sound are at quite high level. Firstly, I should note worthy dynamics of bass and its great depth, careful elaboration of the structure of main instruments of this spectrum. Sometimes bass overhang seem to be slightly tightened, but this doesn't spoil general pleasant impression at all. Among the most significant achievements of the designers are confident work at any rational volume and complete absence of body's resonances.
