Acoustic Energy Radiance 1 Bookshelf speakers

Compact Radiance 1 are the only shelf monitors in the series. The bodies with angled side walls are made of 15-mm MDF plates and are reinforced by horizontal ties inside. As befits products of such high level, dynamical heads, used in Acoustic Energy Radiance 1, are of exceptional quality. Woofer has 130-mm diffuser made of very lightweight aluminum alloy and the tweeter is made by Ring Radiator technology. A fabric ring membrane, being placed in a small horn (the branded DXT Lens technology), is used as radiating element. The ideology of crossovers for the most part was borrowed from top Reference series. The scheme has only four elements, whereby the filters are maximally transparent for audio signal.

Each speaker system has two pairs of spring terminals, so it can be connected by bi-wiring and bi-amping principle.

The main thing that amazes while the listening to these systems is the lack of distortions even at very high volume levels. Acoustic Energy Radiance 1 purely plays any music, differing primarily by drive and dynamics. We also liked the lower case: although bass depth is not so impressive, in the main band it is surprisingly accurate and articulated. The midrange turned out to be less informative - however, formally all nuances are heard. Top is detailed and transparent, but sometimes dominates in overall tonal balance. Sound stage is unexpectedly large with accurately localized sources.
