Focal Sub 300 P Subwoofer

Focal Sub 300 P subwoofer's body is assembled from massive MDF panels, which thickness reaches 25 mm. To combat resonances, the side walls are made non-parallel, in addition to this, a powerful anti-vibration pad is installed on each of them. The driver placed on the front panel has a rather impressive diameter (27 cm). In this case, the driver is equipped with a diffuser manufactured using Polyglass technology, which allows getting the increased rigidity with a minimum mass. The driver is loaded on the bass-reflex with the bottom air port, which significantly expands the low-frequency potential. The subwoofer uses a high-performance 300-watt BASH amplifier (up to 450 watts in peak). The switching set is extensive and includes both line and high-level inputs, a separate LFE connector, as well as acoustic terminals.

Focal Sub 300 P subwoofer has a very decent depth of the bass with a clear elaboration of the main band. I liked the speed and fairly accurate attack. Meanwhile, at the very bottom slight amorphy sometimes arises, and at very high levels of reproduction the body's side-tones may be noticeable. However, after optimal setting (we got about 90 Hz), all of the above disadvantages will be almost imperceptible. Most impressively, the subwoofer works with individual bass notes, somewhat leveling the delicate edges of complex parts. Such a character is ideal for an advanced home theater, where the solid depth and pressure of bass are always highly prized.
