Magnat Quantum 731A Subwoofer

The massive body of Magnat Quantum 731A subwoofer is assembled from thick MDF sheets and pulled together from the inside by stiffening ribs, while the thickness of the front panel reaches 45 mm. The 12-inch driver with a paper diffuser is mounted on the lower plane and is directed into the base plate, which optimally dissipates bass energy. To increase the return, a circuit with a pair of rear bass reflexes of a relatively small diameter was used. This solution has significantly reduced turbulent airborne noise arising at high volume. The power of the built-in amplifier is up to 360W, there is a scheme for soft limitation of diffuser's stroke that effectively eliminates extraneous sounds. The subwoofer is endowed with an extensive set of switching connectors, including linear and high-level terminals, as well as an LFE jack for use in a cinema complex.

This is a clear champion not only in bass depth, but also in macro-dynamics. The sub can easy sound big rooms without overloading. Speaking about the nature of the sound, it can be noted that it is slightly tends to the theatrical manner of performance. Jerky bass bursts are reproduced almost flawlessly, with a clear and sharp attack and a lot of after-sounds. However, more complex low-frequency overflows can be perceived as slightly smoothed. Ideally, the sub should be set at the minimum working band to support the main speakers only in the lowest bass area.
