Mordaunt-Short Aviano 2 Bookshelf speakersMordaunt-Short Aviano 2, shelf speaker systems, are positioned as universal, being suitable for budget stereo system as well as for home theatre. A 6,5-inch mid-woofer lays in their base that allowed to achieve a decent lower border of 45 Hz in quite a compact body. The head is made by the branded CPC technology - an aluminum diffuser with radial grooves, increasing rigidity. The rest part of the working range is played by an inch tweeter with aluminum dome, being modeled with a help of modern CAD programs. The bands are divided by second-ordered crossover with minimal phase error. The filter is maximally simple and assembled of the highest-quality components - precise inductors and capacitors of audiophile quality. At first glance it seems that Mordaunt-Short Aviano 2 plays more than can be expected from many speaker systems of such class. The sound differs by wide frequency and dynamical range, tops are unusually transparent and clear. Micro-dynamics is very good. You don't also feel clear nonlinearities, except a slight rise at the edges of working band. The middle has correct, natural timbres and is emotionally filled. However, you can note small side-tones in working area of bass-reflex, which somewhat reduce the accuracy of lower middle. In this case you should try to mute air ports. The stage is very scaled, has a distinct volume; positions of the instruments are very accurate. ![]() |
