Quad 9L2 Bookshelf speakers

L2 series of the English Quad was first introduced in September 2006. The traditions of the legendary L series were continued in it, but with the use of the latest technologies and materials. Two bass-reflex ports of small diameter were placed on a back panel. The tweeter has a fabric dome and enclosed into a small horn, extending a polar pattern. Sound coil is wound with a lightweight aluminum wire, powerful magnetic system is neodymium. Woofer is Kevlar with phase-leveling header in the diffuser's center. Terminals are of very high quality and provide two-wire connection to an amp.

Tonal balance of Quad 9L2 is almost linear and aurally doesn't have significant deviations. For such small speaker systems bass is transferred well, dynamics is also quite sufficient. The resolution in MIDs is excellent, but, unfortunately, the same can't be said about the lower part of the range. Extreme basses are slightly crushed and not very legible and at organ compositions can seem to be even rude. Albeit top is pure and transparent, but discants are drawn not carefully enough. Vocal parties are built brilliant - you feel a real class in their playing, inherent to this British system. Female voices literally fly as a kite, creating full illusion of live performance. Monitors form quite scaled sound stage with accurate positioning of imaginary sources across the width. The only thing which we would like to add is more precise arrangement of instruments at the second background.
