Boston Acoustics A26 Bookshelf speakers

Boston Acoustics A26 monitors are made by two-way scheme with bass-reflex port on the back wall of the body. The heads are made according to original recipes of Boston. Low-frequency head has a decent by diameter (165 mm/6.5") diffuser, molded of polypropylene, reinforced by inclusions of mica and fiberglass. DCD (Deep Channel Design) technology increases the return in the lower part of working range that makes control of precise diffuser's stroke from the amplifier easier. An inch tweeter is equipped with a fabric dome made of the patented Kortec material, enviable mechanical characteristics of which allowed to extend the upper playback border up to 25 kHz.

Several variants for placement of the speaker system are provided: on special stands or on wall (at rear sound in multichannel system) with a help of built-in loopback typed mounting.

Sound character of Boston Acoustics A26 speaker systems is quite energetic and dynamical, but slightly simplified in tonal sense. Despite of the high degree of articulation of MIDs, in complex for playing recordings subtle shades can sometimes look a bit blurry. The monitors manage to give a good bass, laudable for depth as well as accuracy. We also liked the work of tweeter - upper frequencies are played openly, clearly and with good details. The formed sound stage is defined quite clearly in space. Imaginary sources, at the same time, are accurately localized and do not lose their positions even at high volume.
