Focal-JMlab Chorus 706V Bookshelf speakersFor shelf systems Chorus 706V is quite large and has considerable weight. Massive MDF panels are used in the construction of the body with non-parallel internal walls. Another distinctive feature of the speaker systems is the front bass-reflex that significantly simplifies the alignment of the system in a room. Dynamical heads are fully developed and produced by Focal, their appearance is recognizable without doubt. The famous TNV tweeter with 25-mm (1") concave dome made of light aluminum-magnesium alloy is used to sound the high-frequency range. 165-mm (6.5") woofer is made by the patented Polyglass technology. According to the developers, this method allows to significantly reduce nonlinear distortions associated with deformation of the cone at big signal's amplitudes. First we will note very wide for shelf monitors working range and the highest macro-dynamics. The general style can be described as elegant, in which nicety of interpretation and clarity of playing are at the first place. Enviable transparency reigns in the mid and upper ranges, which can be slightly disturbed only by bass overweight in some phonogram. The tweeter is clear, but is allocated in the total structure more than usual. There is a light disguise of certain nuances at mid frequencies, but this can be rather described as a slight simplification of timbres. Focal Chorus 706V creates the sound stage very well. Space is volumetric, liberties in the positions of individual instruments are not allowed. |
