Focal-JMlab Chorus 806V Bookshelf speakersShelf Focal Chorus 806V speaker systems are designed for work in small rooms. They have two-way construction and bass-reflex loading with the port on the front panel. Peculiar tweeter with the dome made of aluminum-magnesium alloy in the form of concave hemisphere is used as high-frequency speaker. For effective isolation from the body it is mounted on a massive aluminum bar and, undoubtedly, this should positively affect the quality of upper range. The rest part of working band is entrusted on 165-mm (6.5") driver, the diffuser of which is made by the branded Polyplass technology. Its essence is that glass microspheres, increasing the membrane's rigidity while keeping its small mass, are laid on cellulose base. The sound of Chorus 806V is perceived to be quite unbroken, without any faults of tonal balance. The speaker systems differ by high dynamics and wide range, rather typical for small floor speaker system. Lower case is played very confidently. Bass is weighty and quite deep, but low-frequency picture is not always accurate, and overhangs are a bit overlong. The branded tweeter is out of competition. Having high resolution, it sounds extremely delicately the upper spectrum, allowing you to easily hear all the nuances of a phonogram. Sound stage is very extensive and fills the whole listening room. Positioning accuracy of images is slightly reduced at its edges, but at the center the fixation of imaginary sources is truly flawless. |
