ELAC BS 53 Bookshelf speakers

For budget "50" series the German company has specially designed the particular drivers. In 175-mm mid-woofers the magnetic system is doubled and the diffusers are pressed not from traditional for ELAC metal composite but cellulose. A fabric dome of 25-mm tweeter is protected by metallic grill and the neodymium magnetic system is crowned with star-shaped radiator.

The design and built quality of ELAC BS 53 is at high for its price level. They bribe of lively dynamics, high overloading capacity and amazingly accurate bass. Voice range is transferred expressively and without falsity. Musical balance is good, except the upper band - BS 53 play discants clearly, informatively, but softly. Stage is not too deep, but sharply localized and quite spectacular. A serious claim to ELAC BS 53 is only one - when you reduce volume from high to middle position, drive becomes stale and the upper band loses "spark".
