Magnat Omega 300 SubwooferThis is one of the four subwoofers of Omega series. A dumb black body creates a strong impression. A huge woofer and bass-reflex port are placed on the lower panel and work to the floor - downfire. The "300th" is installed on four powerful cylindrical supports, in which thread bushes are pressed for spikes. On service panel there are high amplitude and linear inputs and outputs, a toggle switch to "standby" mode (connection of the auto start scheme "by signal"), phase switch (0°/180°), LF filter selector. On the faceplate there is a motorized volume control, which can be spin manually or you can use the remote control for this purpose. Note that the sub in the standby mode (red LED is on) does not respond to the remote control - you should first start the system by the working signal (indication turns green). In short, Omega 300 is a very serious subwoofer in all respects. The best results were achieved in combination of Omega 300 with floor speaker system. The "300th" here appeared at its finest. Clear, powerful work throughout LF spectrum is especially exciting at the playing of catastrophic effects. It seems that among the tested devices only "Omega" manages to build such wall of bass on such a deeply laid foundation. Notably that an achievable harmony with floor front and full center provides perfect transmission of fast events with strong low-frequency root (explosions, shootings, atmosphere disasters). It is harder to configure the sub for playing with wholly non-bass satellites firstly for music purposes: either (at maximum bandwidth) excess of LF energy masks mid-range details, or (at narrowbanding) losses in the zone of the upper bass are inevitable, and as result the realism of complex (in spectral relation) sounds reduces. A compromise consensus can be still found and the remote control lends an invaluable assistance. Magnat Omega 300 is a very impressive, with versatile talents theatrical device. If only you can also control cut-off frequency from the remote control... |
