B&W AS2 SubwooferAS2 is one of the sixteen (!) low-frequency loudspeakers, which are presented in the catalog of the famous English company. A 250mm driver with the diaphragm, made with addition of mica, is obliged to operate successfully in the harshest energetic modes. The speaker radiates forward; protective mesh is fixed. The head is activated by a 150W amplifier, which works in B class and is equipped with Bass Overload Suppression System scheme, which puts a barrier to the growth of nonlinear distortion at the playing of very powerful signal. Located on the top the control panel is very ergonomic: it contains all regulations. Switch of correction (EQ) helps to find the compromise between volume and depth of bass, setting one of the three values of lower border frequency. AS2 has high-amplitude inputs, linear input (LFE) and the output (used to build the system with several subs). The subwoofer shows a perfectly balanced sound. The register turns out to be collected, dense and well-focused. It is important that the bass of the British sub keeps excellent articulation, great speed features at the playing of different parts of the range in different volume modes. The complex of model's sound advantages allows you to confidently recommend it for playing of any kind of music in combination with qualitative satellites (primarily shelf). We managed to achieve almost ideal combination of the model with different speaker systems. AS2 has quite low bass: the depth of low-frequency dip while listening at medium volume impresses. With increasing of amplitude the extreme bottom of the register starts to overload for a little, and EQ control comes to the rescue here: switching the handle into middle position solves the problem - very handy and useful function. This quite a universal model has bright musical and theatrical talents. |
