NAD 314 AmplifierAll Nad equipment and primarily amplifiers have quite modest but easily recognizable design. The company's products are perceived by British audio press in such a way that give reasons to believe that something typically British is concentrated in this image and, perhaps, in sound too. Like in the tested earlier 312th model, the highlight of NAD 314 is SOFT CUPPING mode, which was firstly suggested and used in the legendary now model - 3020. Such circuit technique solution allows imitating the work of tube output cascade to some degree, and, unlike amplifiers of other companies, NAD 314 doesn't produce its sharp limitation at high volume level. Aurally noticeable reduce of distortions happens at the same time. In addition, output cascade of power amplifier is able to work at low load (up to 2 Ohm) and in combination with effective scheme of power supply allows the device to develop power up to 200W per channel. And quite high damping factor ofapplied output cascade (100) gives the amplifier a possibility to work with many types of speaker systems and cope easy with difficult musical works. The device doesn't have Direct mode, but switchable tone controls compensate this. Minimalistic design concept of the firm was expressed at the lack of distance control in this amplifier. Quite a branchy switching system allows connecting seven sources of audio signal, among which we can note two tape recorders and the player of vinyl recordings. The mode of control while recording at three-head tape-recorder (MONITOR) is possible for one tape-recorder's input - TAPE 1; these connectors can be used for connection of additional devices of sound processing, for example graphic equalizer. Also there are additional connectors on the back panel, jointed by jumper - the output from pre-amp and the input of power amp. In the gap of this part of the device it is possible to connect any external device of sound processing including AV-processor for home cinema. The firm gave up on loudness in this model and left only tone control of low and high frequencies. INFRASONIC FILTER is provided in order to refuse interference from vibrations of "vinyl" player. ![]() |
