Polk Audio LSi7 Bookshelf speakersSmall but massive shelf loudspeakers LSi7 belong to the top Polk Audio series; they are produced for a long time and are still in demand in the market. They are equipped with a proprietary bass-reflex system - ARC port (Acoustic Resonance Control) is located at the front, which helps to reduce resonances at medium frequencies, and at the rear there is Power Port with a special shape divider that amplifies sound pressure at low frequencies. The result is the declared lower limit of 45 Hz, which is very good for such a volume. The brand woofer has a 130-mm cone made of foamed polypropylene, a hard and very light material. Ring tweeter membrane is a popular solution lately, but it is more usual in more expensive speaker systems. Like the other models of the Lsi series, the "sevens" are endowed with an equally strong and powerful voice. In this case, the main bet here is on the dynamics and bass with a small compromise in relation to other aspects of the sound. Yes, a tonal balance is good here, but with such a magnificent in depth and quality bass there is just not enough the same informative sound in the rest of the range. Nevertheless, among the strong qualities of Polk Audio LSi7, we should note a confident upper range, a rather informative middle and a thorough study of the midbass attack. Some significant omissions are found only in the correctness of the distribution of sources in space - sometimes the images too clearly "stick" to tweeters, but this is noticeable only in very complex music. |
