Mission 781 Bookshelf speakersThe characteristic for Mission 781 feature is HF head, installed at the bottom part of the faceplate. Such arrangement of speakers for shelf system is quite actually - at the installation of such system on speakers on typical meter pedestal the listener's head is on the same level with the tweeter. There is a figured plastic overlay on the faceplate. Massive deep body is damped inside by special spumy synthetic absorber. Woofer/midrange diffuser with sophisticated look is made of the branded Keraform composite (cellulose with ceramic additives, increasing the rigidity). The tweeter radiates by silk dome. All heads have magnetic shielding. According to our data, cutoff frequency of bands turned out to be lower than stated (2 instead of 2.8 kHz) - perhaps, we are dealing with a slightly modified version. The finish is natural mahogany veneer. Dense, clearly structured and sufficiently far-reaching to the medium part (40-80 Hz) of LF register system's bass seems to be an ideal variant even for more expensive shelf speaker system. The system, undoubtedly, belongs to group of leaders by quality of transfer of low and mid frequency, and in some cases pretends to the first position. Both acoustic and electronic LF instruments sound extremely beautiful and expressively - double-bass, cello, bass-guitar, synthesizer, drums. Plastic and speed of dynamical crossfades in mid-bass are amazing. It is interesting that despite of the objective increase of the system's sensitivity in the area of high frequencies, the tonal balance is subjectively perceived as pretty smooth. At the same time the ear picks up as if contraction of timbre texture at the top, reducing the resolution of the smallest details. Perhaps, exactly due to this reason, sometimes you feel, for example, some aggression in violin sound at the increased volume and the final clarity is not achieved in interpretation of space images. But these nuances do not limit the range of music apps of Mission 781, which has a lot of power reserve, good dynamics and great basses. |
