Elac BS 203.2 Bookshelf speakers

BS 203.2 is the smallest shelf system of the modified "two hundredth" series of ELAC. All models of new line are equipped with the branded HF-speakers - JET-tweeters of new generation (JET III). The head is equipped with new neodymium magnet; the film of membrane became lighter that allowed increasing of the radiating surface area. In the end the upper bound reached ultrasonic 50 kHz. The diffusor of LF/MF-head is a two-layer construction made of cellulose and thin (0.2 mm) aluminum foil. External magnetic field of the speaker is suppressed by the compensating magnet. Very complex crossovers have filters of the second and third orders. The body of the speaker systems is glued from MDF and perfectly muted. A plug for the bass-reflex port is included. The terminals are isolated according to the European standard of electrical safety.

Listening to BS 203.2, you understand especially clearly why shelf acoustics can cost a lot of money. A sound style of BS 203.2 is the alloy of delicacy and grace. Tonal balance is in line. Quite deep and clear bass is charming. But this, believe us, is a perfect rot on the background of the jewelry work of high-frequency heads! The most difficult for any acoustics wide-band sound of cembalo in the "setting" of chamber orchestra is resolved to the smallest details. Natural overhangs exist as long as provided by musical instrument and space, where the recording was made. All of these conduces the birth of amazingly realistic feeling of concert hall: you as if feel its (concert) breathe. BS 203.2 almost has no competitors in the ability to work with details of dynamic micro-relief. At high volume the sound of the system doesn't risk, but lose the original melodic charm. However, the pair can be referred to the rare category of the speaker systems, which are able to completely work out the music material at low volume.
