NAD T754 AV-receiverWhen I got acquainted with NAD T754, a sense of deja vu immediately arose - all this I had seen before. Two already familiar remote controls are in the kit - the main and optional. There are a characteristic back panel with jumpers and a bottom with a pair of low-noise fans. I admit that the design of audio equipment of this British-Canadian brand has not changed for many years, but can you imagine that the design was the same literally up to the cog? But in fact it is! It is actually a twin of the T753 model. Instead of the modern Pro Logic IIx, it has a traditional 5.1 decoder, DTS 96/24 is not supported. But if you think that I list the shortcomings, you are very wrong. Who really uses "prologic" to decompose the analog signal? NAD T754 differs from the predecessor only by the internal layout and the new DACs, the base of the receiver is the same. You get an AV receiver with an excellent selector of analog sources, a powerful power system, Power Drive six-channel amplifier section and a developed multi-zone architecture with IR inputs and triggers. NAD T754 sounds generously and confidently, despite not too convincing passport data. Low frequencies are reproduced dynamically, with a well-developed attack, which gives naturalness to the whole musical picture. I also note a live and pleasant transfer of vocals. But the tonal balance is, in general, slightly lightened. The upper middle sounds accented, the higher frequencies are transmitted in a special manner - the meaning of sonorous metal treble is exaggerated, the noise and air components, on the contrary, are slightly lowered (which makes the voice of the sibilants slightly affected). The most insidious part in this receiver is the FM tuner. On the one hand, it is able to sound good. It is one of the few who gives not compressed in dynamics but tonally sustained sound. Bass differs by its clarity and structure, the middle - by clarity, the top - only by a slight tint (discants are transferred harshly). On the other hand, it is almost impossible to achieve an undistorted reception of weakened or full of industrial cluttering broadcast. Even switching to mono mode does not always give the expected increase in purity of sound. ![]() |
