JBL Balboa 10 Bookshelf speakers

Like Infinity Systems the legendary JBL is also included into the international Harman Corporation. Maybe, this is the reason why systems of Balboa series look very similar to Infinity Primus? I urge you to wait with conclusions. Indeed, Balboa 10 (by the way, not the famous movie hero Rocky Balboa gave name to the series, but a small island in California) has the same body, rounded to the faceplate. Hereon the similarity ends. The bass-reflex is in the back. Placed in wide mouth dome of 19-mm tweeter is made of titanium and covered with the finest laminate. A 130-mm mid-woofer is with classical cellulose diffuser.

JBL system sounds expressively, without academic primness. You find similarity with Infinity only, perhaps, in the character of discants transfer: Balboa 10 also puts emphasize on them and does it even stronger than Primus 150. Having smaller sizes, these loudspeakers show almost the same confident, albeit not very linear bass. Sound stage is compact, sharply focused. The middle band is rich with nuances - despite of the slight dimness, all the instruments with bright sound stay recognizable. Signs of compression arise at high volume, slight modulation appears at intense low basses. But at the levels of comfortable listening JBL Balboa 10 plays music naturally - with a distinct bass and clear air top.
