Of the entire range of products manufactured by JVC, the most popular are those units that are designed for picture reproduction. JVC CD players are not often available for testing, so I was interested in the JVC XL-Z674BK. I must say that a pleasant surprise awaited us. No less pleasant impression was made on us by the model XL-Z464BK, which in terms of sound quality belonged to the best, while at the same time being the cheapest. It has an understatedly elegant appearance, smooth operation of the mechanics. Functional equipment did not exceed the standard, but the model differed by very good technical parameters. The player can be connected to the common control bus Compu Link. The indicator light can be turned off. Although the results of the distortion measurement are somewhat worse than those given by the manufacturer, nevertheless, at such low values the accuracy is not very high either. The linearity is impeccable. The sound was evaluated as neutral. In the description of the sound the word "colorful" was cited and added that the sound of the midrange is not presented as pleasantly as the bass. However, another expert thought the midrange sounded more dynamic and the bass sounded weaker.
