Sony PS-LX150H TurntableSony PS-LX150H vinyl player refers to the range of semi-automatic models. The body is made of plastic; the bottom board is made of alloy. Pickup system and driver are mounted rigidly, without any amortization, except hemispherical rubber legs, which the entire device is installed on. The engine is attached to chassis with a help of screws through rubber spacer with the thickness of 3-4 mm. The rotation of monolithic disc is performed by belt driver. The construction of tonearm does not provide a manual installation of pressure level of the needle on a vinyl record. Antiskating is also absent. Tonearm is equipped with MM type pickup (with moving magnet), which is similar to pickups with half-inch mounting. The pickup is equipped with the head of CN-234 type. We can positively appreciate the control over installation and over rise of tonearm by classical lever, but you should be very careful with this element of control in this model. Mechanics of the player works noiseless, reliably and relatively softly. The sound of Sony PS-LX150H differed by stable and weighty low-frequency base, good dynamics and relatively well-balanced ratio between high and mid frequencies. However, the sound of high frequencies, especially brass, and also bow instruments seemed to be a bit sharp. We can also positively appreciate a spatial component of sound. |
