NAD C370 Amplifier

The design and finish is typical for Hi-End - grey painted front panel, arranged in a single row small buttons and handles, in the location of which a distinct logic is visible. Mentally move from left to right: turn on the desired pair of speaker systems, choose by the input selector with green LEDs one of the seventh sources, install the desired timbre of sound (is regulated only in a small range) or, conversely, disable the correction and then adjust the volume by balance or bigger handle.

In addition to inputs we find two pairs of RCA connectors for overwriting on the back panel. Power amplifier input and two pairs of outputs of preliminary section are provided, one of which is also equipped with level control (the signal can be weakened on 12 dB). All of these allow you to build musical system very flexibly.

But even having this the list of features of C370 won't be rich. The amplifier is switched into mono bridge mode (with output power of 300 W) and into Soft Clipping. The soft limit will be useful only for work at very high volume level - it will be enough to sound a small club.

The supply system ISC (Impedance Sensing Circuit) is worth noting among the features of C370. A special circuit analyses the character of load and optimizes supply modes of the power amplifier.

Listening test. The tonal balance is not ideal. The amplifier as if lifts the edges of range, emphasizing upper and the lowest frequencies, so we can conclude that C370 has little problems with the control over the system -droning notes present in bass. All other noises are not already caught aurally. C370 is able to sound with amazing purity on such levels of output power, which other amplifiers could not dream of. The dynamics itself is killer. The speed and accuracy is slightly worse. The amplifier idly works out the "kick", attack is not perfectly clear, the dynamic relief is not elaborated on the level of the weakest components.

To be fair I have to note that C370 looks good in comparison with other really powerful and inexpensive devices. What is the rarest quality here? High sound resolution. And NAD conquers exactly by this - the problem of "first watt" seems to be unknown for this amplifier. Every detail is heard literally. Perhaps, even too much. C370 removes the smallest nuances so carefully that rhythmic and harmonic basis plays not the main role. Typical defects in the sound stage arise from there. It is more spatial and blurry than usually - the sources of the front plan are slightly removed and, on the contrary, the sounds from the depth of scene seem to be closer. But... Now look at the test of NAD C542. A mirror picture, isn't it? Working together, two these devices will perfectly complement each other.
