B&W Solid Bookshelf speakersThe white plastic case is a brave design decision (the company suggests 6 different variants of color design). At the same time the sense of proportion and the good taste have not changed to the developers and non-trivial construction doesn't cause the feeling of floridity in this case. In addition, the most of aspects of its external originality are strictly proportionally and acoustically appropriately: anti-diffractive bend of the front panel, articulate stands for the confident orientation of the speaker system in space, the body made of dense molted plastic of high viscosity don't give the wavering to develop. The decorative grill, which covers the conical diffuser of the woofer, is literally the integral part of the body (its sizes are 163x233x150 mm). About the home: high nominal power (150W) forces us to abandon from the ironic manner of description. The system is equipped with magnet proof for the most part is designed for the work in the home theater system. At the same time, the clear portrayal of mid and high frequencies is guaranteed. The results of the listening are fully consistent with the data of the technical expertise. The vocals, violin and piano were sounded from the test Denon disc in a greater degree; the graphics of drums was clearer in cool opus "Money For Nothing" than in patriarchal Dire Straits. Speaking about lower part of the range, nobody waits to canary sings by bass. The deficit of basses is clearly heard aurally, but the reliable support from bottom - subwoofer - is expected to be in home cinema. By the way, B&W has a special woofer for Solid, the use of which must give the good result. And if you place the systems closer to the wall in the relatively small room, you can achieve some rise of bass due to the volume of the room. The sensitivity of the system is average (the measured value is 88 dB); the uniformity of the field is perfect. The characteristic of input impedance module looks good (8 Ohm by passport); the bass reflex frequency is 65 Hz, the crossover frequency of filter is 5 kHz. ![]() |
