Infinity SM 65 Bookshelf speakers

Infinity SM 65 is two-way speaker system of bass-reflex type with port on the back wall. Sizes are 200x331x188 mm. Polypropylene cone of the woofer has the diameter of 160 mm, a dome polymer tweeter - 20 mm. Typical for Infinity serious attitude to the appearance affected SM 65 in full too. Woofer is edged with yellow metallic ring, under the tweeter there is a full-circle beautiful inscription. Everything is made carefully and with taste. You should keep in mind that it's not recommendable to place the speaker systems close to wall in order not to deprive the bass-reflex of operational space and listener of low frequencies. The system is designed for consumption of power from 10 to 100 W. Frequency response shows that the developers are serious not only to external look. Here is very good sensitivity - 92,5 dB (a bit higher in technical description). All parameters, characterizing high-class device, were adhered. Also there is some individuality of sound due to unusual structure in the upper part of the range. Conjunction of sub-ranges is provided well. Unnecessary rolloff near lower border slightly darkens an overall pleasant picture. Its scale significantly simplifies basses by frequency as well as by amplitude. Perhaps, this is the fault of inverter, which damps the woofer's diffuser at the output on the setting frequency of resonator. But do not over-dramatize the situation. Infinity SM 65 provides the presentation of most of musical works quite adequately. Vocal is surely their strongest point. Here you will find everything - high quality of portrayal, timbre richness, tones, half-tones, highlights and reflexes. The system doesn't have excessive directivity and stereo effect zone is wide. Setting frequency of the bass-reflex is 60 Hz. Cutoff frequency is 4.5 kHz according to the description.
