Tangent AMP-200 Amplifier

The Danish company Tangent until recently was associated exclusively with high-end loudspeakers. But this brand has released several lines of audio components, and we chose one of the models for the test. AMP-200 amplifier belongs to the older 200 series, which also includes a CD player and FM tuner.

The amplifier is made in a solid metal case with a massive front aluminum panel. The output power is impressive - 100 watts per channel. On the rear panel there are five inputs for various sound sources, connectors for a vinyl player and an output to an active subwoofer. Moreover, Tangent has its own crossover, which allows tuning in the range from 30 to 300 Hz. In front there are the output for headphones and mini-Jack for switching with a portable music player. The remote control is designed for all Tangent equipment and can command even the same DVD player.

The amplifier demonstrated excellent dynamics and drive on a wide variety of musical records. The basis of sound, i.e. low register, is worked out by the amp confidently - you feel the real control of loudspeakers. In addition to general transparency, the mid-range also deserves separate mention. If by the formal characteristics (microdynamics, tonal accuracy) Tangent AMP-200 is honored with confident 4, then the timbre wealth allows you to give it higher grades. Discants are surprisingly transparent, there is a lot of air in the sound. The scene is built very curiously - the space is large and has a pronounced 3D effect. Distant plans are read well, but at the edges of the panorama sources are not as clear as we would like.
