Infinity SM85 Bookshelf speakers

Infinity SM85 is a two-way speaker system of bass-reflex type with the port on the faceplate. The diameter of the woofer with polypropylene cone diffuser is 200 mm; the diameter of polymer dome of the tweeter is 25 mm. The recommended power range is 10-150W. A maximal sensitivity by passport in SM85 is 98 dB. Big sizes (281x450x263mm) put Infinity on the first place "in growth"; aesthetic advantages are also on top. At the risk of being banal, we will note that its frequency response is absolutely perfect. And the matter is not only in the upper border of the range (27 kHz), declining inequality (±1,5 dB) and boundaries' unity of sub-bands, but also in a highest sensitivity (92,5 dB). However, all of these are a bit lower than was prescribed by technical description. Perhaps, the difference is attributed to the fact that our data correspond with conditions of free field, i.e. always lower than in real rooms. The woofer is quite a good companion of the tweeter. And the average ripple is small and local differences in sensitivity are easily forgiven. A bass-reflex works in a useful way and a good flatness of near-border falls in basses is achieved with its support. The sound of SM85 is designed for a strict hearing of aesthete, brought up on live music. The system can easy transfer the expression of modern rock music, and gentle vocalization and syncopated jazz compositions. Firstly, we plunged into ABBA lyrics (Thank You For The Music)with a great pleasure, then into "Heavy fuel" of Dire Straits. The uniformity of the field, created by the speaker system, is very high. We can say warm words also about module characteristic of input resistance: at the average meaning of 7 Ohm the nominal is 4 Ohm (RMS deviation is less than 2 Ohm). Tuning frequency of the bass-reflex is 50 Hz, frequency cut of loudspeakers is 2,8 kHz.
