Sony SS-86E Bookshelf speakers

Sony SS-86E is a two-way speaker system; acoustic design is closed body, the sizes are 190x320x240 mm. The diameter of diffuser is 130 mm, dome tweeter - 25 mm. Curved decorative grill gives a peculiar external look. Nominal power is 70 W, sensitivity is low - 85 dB. Loudspeakers are equipped with magnetic proof, they can be placed directly near the TV. Sony proves that properly built driver can cope with the solution of low-frequency problem without bass-reflex.

In this case the result is convincing. Despite of small volume of the body, the lower border is 50 Hz. woofer elaborates its whole range in a good style. A slight peak at 460 Hz is, apparently, the "merit" of the front or back panels. Tracking of sub-ranges is made at a high level. The upper part of the range gives grounds to expect quite refined sound. Generally, this is a great shelf system with sweet basses, strict MIDs and expressive high frequencies. All musical genres receive an adequate interpretation, not devoid of pleasant originality and charm. Loudspeakers Sony SS-86E have expressive directivity only at the highest frequencies, but in any case try to focus the field on the listener.
