NAD 802 Bookshelf speakersThe NAD 802 is a very popular 2-way speaker system among Hi-Fi connoisseurs. Traditional appearance, no frills and design frills; bass-reflex port on the rear panel; dimensions 200x400x264 mm. The mid-bass driver has a polypropylene cone with a diameter of 17.6 cm, and the diameter of the soft dome tweeter is 2.5 cm. The recommended amplifier power is 25 - 80 watts (per channel). It is possible to connect both according to the "bi-wiring" scheme, and according to the "bi-amping" scheme (each speaker is excited by its own amplifier). Contact terminals and jumpers are prudently gilded. The frequency response and the actual sound itself are pleasing with good bottoms. Long, albeit shallow, dips in the mid-range and high-frequency portion of the response can slightly impoverish vocals and the sound of instruments rich in overtones. The results of the directivity evaluation promise a reliable stereo effect both in small and large rooms, if the listener is not closer than 2 meters from the speaker, where, according to the manufacturer, the "far zone" of acoustic radiation is formed. The sensitivity according to our measurements turned out to be slightly lower than the one given in the technical description of the system (90 dB), which may be due to differences in control conditions. The crossover frequency of the speaker filter is about 2 kHz; bass reflex tuning frequency 65 Hz; nominal input impedance - 4 ohms. ![]() |
