AMC 3050a Amplifier

AMC 3050a amplifier is a version of 3050 equipped with a remote control. Outwardly, this was manifested in the occurrence of an additional knob - BALANCE and motorized volume control, which markedly increased the convenience and speed of adjustment. An input selector is also motorized, manual switching of which is somewhat amusing - if the switch knob is inaccurately installed (there is no mechanical fixation), the controlling motor pull itself to the required position. The functionality of the amplifier is minimal, but it is in the spirit of the company's vision, thinking that fewer opportunities to change the original sound, its shorter path are the better. At the same time, the amplifier has tone controls with the ability to turn them off, pluggable three linear sound sources, input/output for recording on the tape recorder and its control by the SOURCE/TAPE switch, input for the MM/MC sound pickup (the switch of which is located on the rear panel). A green power button, its single LED indicator and a gilded headphone jack complete the front-panel composition. In accordance with the same minimalist requirements for the output of the amplifier, you can only connect one pair of speakers, but the output connectors are made in the form of massive gilded screw terminals. AMC 3050a also has a preamp output and a power amplifier input connected by thick jumpers. This allows you to use them separately and connect to them any sound processor or equalizer. Structurally, the device inside is also executed correctly with the use of special audio components and has a carefully manufactured toroidal transformer. Transistors of the output stage are installed on the common radiator with the use of parallel connection, which, as you know, improves the parameters of the amplifier, what is indirectly confirmed by the stated output current of 30 amps. For the declared continuous power (80 W per channel) the dimensions of the radiator and the power transformer are obviously small. The measurement confirmed this - the output power did not exceed 72 watts per channel at the joint work of two channels and the radiator quite quickly heated up. However, it should be noted that in such a limiting mode the amplifier is usually not used, and this mode only characterizes its capabilities. The sound of the amp is calm, not tiring. It amazes by its sterile accuracy. The developers have achieved their goal - competent sound for relatively small money.
