Sony CDP-XE510 CD-playerSonically, the Sony CDP-XE510 was one of the best on large speakers and in the midrange on shelf speakers and headphones. The balance and versatility are admirable. The unit transmits rock music with the right amount of force, and serious music without any hint of emasculation, carefully conveying all the nuances. The Sony CDP-XE510 has no equal in quality of high frequencies reproduction. Perhaps it is a characteristic feature of Hybrid Pulse transducers, it does not matter, the main thing is the absence of that rough and metallic coloration in the sonorous (mostly percussion and percussion) instruments, which often you hear inexpensive CD-players. Here we are dealing with almost analog silky sound, not annoying and at the same time very detailed. On the shelf speakers, however, the sound seemed too dense and not very deep. The display shows text information about the current mode and has the ability to display CD-text.
The functional richness of the Sony CDP-XE510 is something to envy. Fans of magnetic recording will be disappointed except that the absence of peak search. But all kinds of programming plus fade in / out - at your service. You can change the time of the segment for review and set your choice of 10, 20 or 30 seconds. There is no "autospace" function, but one second is added between the numbers when playing the program. Quite logical, as the current drives are quite nimble and the time between songs, equal to, say, 0.2 seconds, may seem clearly insufficient. In the summary table there is a checkmark against direct start - this is untrue and true at the same time. The fact is that the song number is selected by the wheel, not with the buttons On the other hand, in this way the selection of the number is much faster than in some other devices with the option of multiple pressing +10, then the second digit, then Play. Control from the front panel is convenient and logical, you do not even want to walk away. By the way, for those who like to do everything from a distance the Sony CDP-XE510 offers rather modest opportunities - the control from the remote is greatly reduced in comparison with the front panel. The loading mechanism is located above the display, so my favorite trick - put the disc, set the number, press start - did not pass (although functionally possible).
The unevenness of the AFC in the range of 2-20,000 Hz, specified in the passport, is ±0.5 dB. The CD player that came to us had no more than 0.35dB in the 20-20000Hz range, which added a few more points for Sony. |
