Dali Concept 2 Bookshelf speakers
Concept series from DALI is designed to strengthen the company's position in budget sector of the market of speaker systems. Apparently, the famous Danish company decided to show the competitors how inexpensive speaker systems can sound if you apply maximum efforts to its development and to minimize compromises.
Concept 2 is the older shelf model in the series. The sizes of this large monitor promise extraordinary possibilities in playing bass. It is worth noting that all the speakers for new line were developed from the scratch. Brick red diffuser of mid-range/woofer driver is made of cellulose and impregnated with a special polymer composition. A silk dome is loaded on a small horn for optimal dispersion.
Two bass-reflex ports are placed on the front panel below the main speaker - such solution allows you to place the system close to back wall of the room. The body is finished by high-quality vinyl film, the terminals for the connection of wires, I think, were borrowed from more expensive models of the company. All-in-all the speaker systems look very presentably, the quality of finish looks really rich.
After listening to several compositions I decided to check if I have read the price tag correctly. Although the phrase "acoustic plays richer its money" has already drawn the mouth, I again must write it, because it is the first thing that comes to mind when testing. The playing of bass is especially striking. The monitors play bass not only like floor speaker systems, but they manage to do it very accurately and linearly. Of course, Concept 2 can't cause tectonic shifts, but nobody expects such performance from the shelf system with the price less than $ 400. The middle impresses too, male vocal is weighty and detailed. Good microdynamics of the speaker systems allows them to transfer the slightest nuances of sound of acoustic instruments and female voices. The only claim that can be presented relates to increased demands to the selection of amplifier. For the full driving of Concept it is better to purchase more powerful machine, then the owner can fully enjoy their extraordinary abilities. Today it is the best system in basic price range.
