Naim DAC-V1 DAC

Naim DAC-V1 is assembled in the branded casted body, has an unmistakably recognizable design and ergonomics. Among the digital inputs there is an asynchronous USB interface through which you can set a signal with a maximum resolution of 24/384. For this, you have to download and install the driver. In addition, there are three coaxial connectors and a pair of optical Toslink. To listen to music in the headphones, there is a full-sized 6.3 mm jack on the front panel.

Naim DAC-V1 uses a proprietary signal processing circuitry, which is produced by a high-speed SHARC processor. It performs digital data filtering and 16-fold oversampling, which allows you to remove interference outside the audible range. PCM1791A chip is responsible for the conversion to analog, after which the signal is fed to a fully discrete output stage.

The controls are carried out by the buttons on the front panel, while to mute the sound (Mute mode) you only need to touch the highlighted company logo.

Through the linear outputs, DAC-V1 pleases with just outstandingly real sound, where each note is thoroughly presented to the listener.

I must say that the sound supply of Naim is so integral that when listening, there is not even a thought to analyze individual parts of the range. The DAC differs by its remarkable dynamics and special sound freedom, which is inherent exclusively in high-end technology. Literally the entire frequency range is worked out, extending from the powerful moving bass to the crystal upper register. And all this is with an almost perfect tonal balance! Unfortunately, against the backdrop of this magnificence, the headphone output is not so good. With a sufficiently high sound quality, sometimes loud notes penetrate the sound, and roughness arises at higher frequencies.
