Canton Chrono SL 520 Bookshelf speakers

Made in Germany - this inscription on the back side already talks about various things. The development and production of Canton loudspeakers are carried out in Germany with pedantic quality control at every stage of the assembly. Chrono series is made in traditional rectangular cases, lacquered in black or white. The tweeter is securely hidden behind a solid metal grille. Its dome is made of aluminum and magnesium alloy, optimally combining low weight and high strength. The tweeter is loaded on a shallow horn. Aluminum is a traditional material for the diffusers of Canton drivers, and SL 520 is no exception. To ensure smooth speed of the diffuser, its suspension combines a conventional and inverse profile in the form of a wave. The bass reflex port is located on the rear side of the case. Note that the case itself is very deep, and this, apparently, was done to enhance the low frequencies. At the bottom there are two holes with thread for fixing to the rack. The designers decided to be limited to one pair of powerful terminals in protective plastic caps. The terminals are not recessed and extend more the case, which can make placement of the speaker more difficult.

Canton Chrono SL 520 did the impossible: the aluminum membrane of the driver never sounded so natural! Correct tonal balance and excellent sense of rhythm, a great attack, and there is not even a hint of aggression at the same time. Formal claims stay only to a reduction in scale and a very slight timbral simplification of some instruments. But most importantly, this is how easy it is for these babies to convey the mood, the meaning of the work, and also the author's interpretation. I would never have thought that it was possible in this price category.
