Wharfedale Diamond 8.4 Bookshelf speakers

The history of Diamond series dates back more than 20 years. During this time it was the bestseller on the British market that is quite rare occurrence and good indicator. Very successful construction and more than reasonable price became the key of such unusual longevity. That's why this series is still in the rank of Wharfedale.

Diamond 8.4 is a three-way speaker system of bass-reflex type. A 25-mm (1") tweeter with a silk dome is equipped with powerful neodymium magnet. Sound coil is cooled by ferromagnetic liquid. The diffusers of 165-mm (6.5") MF and LF driver are made of woven Kevlar. Their difference is only bullet protective cap of mid-woofer and the rigidity of suspension. Plastic bullet allows achieving wider polar pattern in MIDs. Bass-reflex is placed on the front panel.

Diamond 8.4 sensitizes you to a serious and careful listening. Music image of Wharfedale is three-dimensional, well detailed. The system articulates various sound edges a bit soft, so stroke and attack of sound a little lose in expressiveness, roughness. Naturalness is an important quality inherent to the model in full. Timbres of acoustic instruments are convincing and plastic, especially in compositions for small performance groups. Male and female vocal in chamber classical and jazz compositions is expressive. Wharfedale Diamond 8.4 slightly neutralizes, as if dips into a soft mist the quietest details; at quite high volume and during the dynamic high points lower and middle cases are transferred a bit less clear. All in all, this is definitely a good result for good money.
