Polk Audio TSi200 Bookshelf speakers"TSi" series of widely known American Polk Audio appeared in 2008. This is one of the most budget series, made in a modest vinyl finish, but with a massy lacquered top cover. TSi200 by sizes corresponds to an average shelf system, but at the same time easily contains three drivers: the branded tweeter with a dome made of mix of silk and polymer fibers and two identical MF/LF drivers with laminated diffusers made of organic fibers. Due to the large depth, Polk Audio TSi200 has a good volume for powerful bass. The bass-reflex port is on the back wall. A protective grill very tightly attaches to the body, leaving no chances to even a slightest clash. The engineers didn't stint bi-wiring/bi-amping. Freedom for enthusiasts. While listening, the main thing that immediately caught the ears is high unification of sound, apparently driven by symmetrical design also known as d'Appolito scheme. Despite of the presence of two mid-bass speakers, the middle is a bit weakened as if the singer made a half-step backwards. Bass also does not strike by depth and scale. High frequencies are good, but sometimes seem to be sharp and have a bit early decay. Most likely, this happens due to narrow dispersion of the tweeter. Tonal balance of Polk Audio TSi200 is also not ideal, there is clear tendency to lightness plus a slight decrease of images leads to the effect of "rejuvenation" of signers. This is such a musical time machine. No matter what, musical charm of TSi200 is very strong and it is seen in most music genres. This is a good choice for audiophiles, getting fond of 3D images. |
