Focal Chorus 705 Bookshelf speakers

The junior model of the budget Chorus 700 series is not inferior to senior colleagues. Own produced drivers are taken as base here and located in small by volume, but quite rigid bodies with reinforced sidewalls. Bass-reflex is placed on the front panel, on the back panel there is a loop for wall mounting. A 5-inch diffuser of midbass is made by the patented Polyglass technology - to increase rigidity glass microspheres are laid on cellulose base. The TNV2 tweeter with a concave dome is the proprietary feature of Focal. In this case the lightest diaphragm is made of aluminum-magnesium alloy and mounted on Poron suspension. A shallow horn, which forms an optimal polar pattern, is made on the flange for wider dispersion.

The sound of Focal Chorus 705 is maximally open and at the same time quite organized. Tonal balance is slightly shifted up aurally, but this doesn't violate the overall pleasant impression. The most important mid-frequency area is played with enviable sound resolution and sufficient timbral variety. However, in the lower middle there is a light veil (perhaps, because of bass-reflex's work). Low-frequency register is quite strong. It impresses by dynamics and energy, the structure of instruments is transferred truthfully to the max. Sound stage is formed incredibly scaled and with expressed perspective in depth. The greatest density of space is seen in the center of panorama, focus slightly drops at the edges.
